Amy is a UK Runaway
Amy first ran away when she was 12 years old. She rarely washed or changed her clothes, leaving her bullied and lonely at school. The running away started after she told her mother she had been sexually abused by a local man. Amy´s relationship with her mother broke down. To escape the abuse and her unhappiness she ran away from home sleeping rough on floors and “jumping” trains to get as far away as possible, facing the very real risks of life on the streets.
Unfortunately Amy is not alone in the UK. There are thousands more in her position, many of whom have experienced even worse situations.
